Keith Lockhart doesn't like the idea of going out with a bang - that sounds too dramatic, says the Utah Symphony music director, who will be stepping down at the end of the 2008-09 season.
But he doesn't mind borrowing the metaphor, as the launch of his fifth and final Deer Valley Music Festival will be marked with a boom: Saturday's July 19 Utah Symphony Pops concert features Tchaikovsky's "1812" Overture - live cannons and all - with Lockhart at the podium.
Some of the most memorable moments from Evening at Pops are celebrated in this new Broadway's Best at Pops DVD which will make a great addition to your Pops collection.
