TOP SIX CONTESTANTS SELECTED FROM FIELD OF 22
FOR BOSTON POPS HIGH SCHOOL SING OFF

WINNER TO PERFORM WITH BOSTON POPS ON FOURTH OF JULY

Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops are pleased to announce the six semi-finalists in its first High School Sing Off; A Best of Broadway Challenge. 22 contestants performed works from the musical theater repertoire last night, June 2nd, at Symphony Hall in hopes of ultimately performing with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on the Charles River Esplanade on July 3rd and 4th. The six semi-finalists will perform with the Boston Pops during a Pops performance on June 17 and 18, three on each evening, with three contestants moving forward to the finals. The two finalists will perform with the Boston Pops during a Pops performance on July 1st. The High School Sing Off will perform during the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. The Boston Pops High School Sing-Off is sponsored by Fidelity Investments.

The six semi-finalists are:
Soloists:
• Olivia Buckley, 17, from Wellesley, a student at Wellesley High School, sang “Forget About the Boy” from Thoroughly Modern Millie.
• Caroline Cronin, 16, from Norwell, a student at Norwell High School, sang “Astonishing” from Little Women.
• Molly Evans, 17, from Needham, a student at Walnut Hill School, sang “Broadway Baby,” from Follies.
• Katie Mayhew, 16, from West Tisbury, a student at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, sang “Being Alive” from Company.

The Boston Pops High School Sing-Off invited talented vocalists from across the Commonwealth to send in audition tapes of their performances of pieces from the musical theater repertoire. Over 200 applications came in, and from those, 22 were selected. Tonight, the top 22 soloists and ensembles performed live in Symphony Hall, and from those 22, six were selected. These six will now go on to the semi-finals, in which three soloists or groups will compete live at Symphony Hall on each of the nights of June 17 and 18, accompanied by the Boston Pops under the direction of Conductor Keith Lockhart. One performer from each group will then move on to the finals which will take place at a Pops concert at Symphony Hall on July 1, at which time a winner will be selected. The winner of the High School Sing-Off will then perform as part of the Boston Pops Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on the Charles River Esplanade on July 3 and 4.
