Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops have announced the 20 contestants for the orchestra’s first-ever musical theater competition for high school students throughout the state of Massachusetts. The Boston Pops High School Sing-Off contestants--selected from over 200 applications received from 120 communities throughout Massachusetts--will participate in the first live round of the competition on the stage of Symphony Hall on June 2, overseen by Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart. Lauren Boltz, 17, from Sturbridge, a student at Tantasqua Regional High School, sang "Easy As Life" from Aida.
Olivia Buckley, 17, from Wellesley, a student at Wellesley High School, sang "Forget About the Boy"from Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Adam Randall, 17, Meghan Ryan, 15, and Michael Ryan, 17, all from Braintree and students at Braintree High School, joined with Brianna Shetler, 15, and Kirsten Shetler, 17, of Quincy and students at North Quincy High School to sing "One Day More" from Les Misérables.
The first round of the live competition will take place on June 2nd, at which time 6 semi-finalists will be selected from the group of 20 contestants. Those six will perform on June 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. in two groups of three, during a Boston Pops concert, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, at Symphony Hall. One performer from each group will then move on to the finals which will take place at a Pops concert at Symphony Hall on July 1, at which time a winner will be selected. The winner of the High School Sing-Off will then perform on the Boston Pops Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on the Charles River Esplanade on July 3 and 4.
