High School Sing-Off Competition Begins June 2, Pops Receive over 200 Applications

Over 200 students from 120 towns throughout Massachusetts, from Martha’s Vineyard to the Berkshires, sent in audition tapes for the chance to sing with the Boston Pops, conducted by Keith Lockhart, in the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular on the Charles River Esplanade.  20 quarter finalists will perform at Symphony Hall on June 2.

After weeks of anticipation, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops will announce the quarter-finalists for the Boston Pops High School Sing-Off competition on Tuesday, May 20th for publication in all media outlets on Wednesday, May 21st.  20 of Massachusetts’ most-talented high school students will be invited to perform a live audition at Symphony Hall June 2 and be one step closer to the opportunity of a lifetime; singing with the Boston Pops in the Boston Pops Fourth of July concert on the Charles River Esplanade.

Following the June 2 live auditions at Symphony Hall, the semi final rounds will take place during Pops concerts led by Mr. Lockhart on June 17 and 18, with the final round slated for July 1st.
