2006 Boston Pops Holiday Season To Include 34 Concerts

NEW YORK VOICES JOINS THE POPS FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE CONCERTS

HOLIDAY POPS SEASON SPONSORED BY FIDELITY INVESTMENTS

Tickets for the 2006 Boston Pops Holiday Series go on sale to the public at the Symphony Hall box office on Monday, September 25, at 8 a.m. Conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra open the 2006 Boston Pops Holiday Series on Monday, December 11, and the cherished holiday tradition will continue through the Boston Pops' annual New Year's Eve celebration. This year's Boston Pops Holiday Series offers a total of 34 pre- and post-Christmas evening and matinee concerts, including the New Year's Eve concert on Friday, December 31. On New Year's Eve, doors will open at 8:30 p.m. for entertainment throughout Symphony Hall, and the concert will begin at 10:15 p.m. New Year's Eve patrons will also enjoy post-concert dancing and desserts.

Concerts during the 2006 holiday season will feature the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra performing selections from the Boston Pops' recent holiday recording, Sleigh Ride, as well as other Christmas classics. After Christmas, New York Voices joins the Pops for five New Year's-themed concerts on Thursday, December 28 (8 p.m.); Friday, December 29 (8 p.m.); Saturday, December 30 (3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.); and Sunday, December 31 (10:15 p.m.). This Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble is renowned for their smooth jazz sound and artistic creativity. Holiday Pops performances will be led by Mr. Lockhart, Principal Pops Guest Conductor Bruce Hangen, and other guest conductors to be announced.

The Holiday Pops season also includes eight kids' matinee concerts at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 15; Friday, December 22; Tuesday, December 26; and Wednesday, December 27; and 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16; Sunday, December 17; Saturday, December 23; and Sunday, December 24. These special family concerts include a children's sing-along, and parents can bring cameras to take photos of their children with Santa. Table seats will include a kid-friendly menu, along with special holiday treats.

Tickets for the 2006 Holiday Pops Series are priced from $25 to $115. Tickets for the New Year's Eve celebration are priced from $80 to $167. On Monday, September 25, tickets may be purchased in person only at the Symphony Hall Box Office, which will open at 8 a.m. that day only. On Tuesday, September 26, Holiday Pops tickets may be ordered by phone by calling SymphonyCharge at 617-266-1200 or 888-266-1200, or online at www.bso.org. Other than September 25, 2006, box office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The box office remains open through intermission on concert nights. American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Diners Club, personal checks, and cash are all accepted at the box office. There is a $5 per ticket handling fee for tickets ordered by phone or online. All Holiday Pops patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. In consideration of all patrons, please note that children under the age of 4 are not permitted at evening Holiday Pops performances.
